The Sornam Group of companies is the culmination of a unique vision and the unmatched dedication of its founder and chairman of the group Mr. M. Visvanathan. Being a highly skilled gold craftsman Mr. M. Visvanathan began his trade in the early ’70s. The skills he had learned from his own father and practiced since childhood allowed for unique creations and excellent quality. As the popularity of his craftsmanship grew, he opened his first showroom in 1975 taking on the role of entrepreneur. A deep and abiding passion for fine craftsmanship and quality allowed the business to grow, while simultaneously gaining a reputation for elegant jewellery and attractive pricing

After well Established the position as the leading gold merchants in the eastern province of Sri lanka Mr. Muthupillai Visvanathan moved to Colombo to cater to a very different market segment in the early 90s and he started off at Sea Street, pettah the heart of Colombo, by acquiring New Saravanas Jewellers (Pvt) Limited in 1997. New Saravanas jewellers was well-established name in the jewellery market in Colombo, which is now claimed as one of the largest showroom in Sea Street.
Once New Saravanas Jewellers (Pvt) Limited established its name in the list of leading retail jewellery outlet, Mr. Visvanathan Pradeep, son of Mr. M. Visvanathan joined and established Factory which produces machine cut chains and handmade jewellery. Most of the machines available are made in Italy and cater to the production of various designs.
Success of the gold factory manufacturing induced Mr. Visvanathan Pradeep to start wholesale & Retail outlet at sea street which sold jewellery in bulk to only merchants.
As an achievement we started 999 Gold Bar manufacturing and refinery in the island. With the help of modern machinery and a highly skilled labour it force to provide 999 gold bar which can be used for manufacturing and investment purposes.

We happy to acquire another showroom in the Sea Street namely Ganesha Jewellery Mart (Pvt) Limited. It is located in the No. 52, Sea Street, Colombo 11, catering modern facility by friendly staffs in the pettah.
Introduced 3D printers to the family which is state-of-the-art production solutions, representing the most advanced technology on the market today for the production of three-dimensional metal art efacts. They guarantee the highest standards both in the monitoring of the process, where the operating parameters are displayed in progress and made available in a final summary, and in the monitoring of the melt pool, where the joint use of video cameras and software allow for instant verification of the quality of fusion and process stability.
